We tested three configurations of the improvised brass filter housing using carbonated banana schmutz
1. Packed only with coffee filter paper
2. Front and rear plugs made of coffee filter paper with the center chamber filled with activated carbon granules (not powder)
Both failed by clogging. Insufficient surface area was present for a high-volume throughput and available surface area clogged quickly. We did not try a third configuration with powdered activated carbon. The banana schmutz (supposed to be wine) was discarded due to just being nasty.
